Joseph R. Devlin, 81, of Independence, Iowa died Wednesday morning, May 30, 2012, at the Buchanan County Health Center in Independence, Iowa.

Joe was born on March 12, 1931 in Independence, Iowa the son of Archibald P. and Ann M. (McClean) Devlin. He attended the country schools near Independence, and was employed as a farm hand in the Independence area

He is survived by a brother; Eugene (Earlene) Devlin, Dundee, Iowa and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother; Kenneth Devlin, and a sister; Marilyn A. Devlin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday at St. John’s Catholic Church, Independence, IA., with Rev. Don Plamondon officiating. Burial will be St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Independence, IA. Friends may call from 3 to 7 P.M. Friday at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence where a rosary will be recited at 3 P.M. and a parish vigil service will be held at 7 P.M. Friday.
