Paul O. Jensen, 86, of Independence, Iowa died Thursday, July 25, 2013, at the ABCM Rehab Center’s West Campus in Independence, Iowa.

Paul was born on November 3, 1926, in Orin, Iowa the son of Oscar and Josephine (Ruecker) Jensen. He graduated from Brandon High School, Brandon, Iowa. He served as a PFC in the U.S. Army from January 4, 1946 till his discharge on March 1, 1947. On May 29, 1951 he was married to Shirley E. Kleitsch at St. John’s Catholic Church, Independence, Iowa. The family made their home in Independence where Paul owned and Operated the Jensen Oil Company for 55 years until his retirement in 1993

He is survived by four children; Jerry (Barb) Jensen, Nebraska City, NE., Jim (Cyndi) Jensen, Jeff (Kathryn) Jensen, and Diane (Jim) Dudley all of Independence, IA., twelve grandchildren, 3 Great grandchildren, five brothers; Rollis Jensen, Denver, IA, Lee Jensen, Mitchellville, MD., Dr. Thomas Jensen, New York, NY., Dr. Kenneth Jensen, Cedar Rapids, IA., Jim Jensen, Independence, IA., and four sisters; Ann Olander, Oelwein, IA., Arlene McLaren, Independence, IA., Jane Meyer, New Albin, IA., and Kay Schwartz, Daytona, FL.

He was preceded in death by his parents. His wife Shirley in 2011, Three brothers; Dale, John and Robert Jensen, a sister Grace Albrecht, and two infant siblings.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM Monday at St. John’s Catholic Church, Independence, IA., with Rev. Don Plamondon officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 PM Sunday and from 8 to 10 AM Monday at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence, Iowa. A Knights of Columbus Rosary will be recited at 3 P.M. Sunday, A military Memorial Service will be held at 7 P.M. followed by a parish wake service will be held at 7:30 PM Sunday
