Dennis D. Gericke, 58, of Oelwein, Iowa died Friday, May 22, 2015 at his home near Oelwein, IA.

Dennis was born on February 15, 1957 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa the son of Milo and Norma (Shaffer) Gericke. He was a 1976 graduate of the North Linn High School in Troy Mills, IA. Following his graduation he worked in construction for several years prior to becoming employed with the Mental Health Institute in Independence in 1981. On February 3, 1981 he was married to Debra S. Kirkbride in Walker, Iowa. The couple later divorced.

Dennis enjoyed going to auctions, sales and antiquing. He loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by two children; Cory A. Gericke, Independence, IA, Carissa A. Gericke, Cedar Rapids, IA, two grandchildren, his father Milo Gericke, Walker, IA, a brother; Michael (Barb) Gericke, Tiffin, IA, and a sister Mary Jo Carlson, Cedar Rapids, IA.

Dennis was preceded by his mother Norma J Gericke.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM Wednesday at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory in Independence, Iowa. Friends may call from 5 to 8 PM Tuesday and from 9 AM till Service Wednesday at the funeral Home. Dennis wishes was to be cremated following services.
