Gerald Willis "Jerry"  Younker
Gerald Willis “Jerry” Younker, 82, of Independence, Iowa died Saturday morning, January 7, 2017 at the Buchanan County Health Center in Independence, Iowa.

Jerry was born on September 17, 1934 in Milton, Iowa the son of Cleo “Jeff” and Esther (Grinstead) Younker. He graduated with the class of 1951 from the Milton High School, Milton, Iowa He was married to Vada June McManis on May 31, 1953 in Bloomfield, IA. The couple lived in Milton, Iowa until moving to Independence, Iowa in 1968 where Jerry drove truck for Jensen Transport. From 1974 thru 1976 the couple owned and operated the Montgomery Ward’s Dept. Store in Independence. Since 1986 Jerry and Vada worked for the Gulf Stream Coach Company delivering RV’s throughout the United States.

Jerry is survived by three daughters; Kriss (Steve) McGraw, Independence, IA, Kimberly (Darrell) Brunko, Brandon, IA, and Karla Wanerus, Robbins, IA. Nine grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, three sisters; Carole Reeves, Perry, IA, Mina Robertson, Griggsville, IL, and Martha Sullivan, Milton, IA. Four brothers; Phillip Younker, Donald Younker, Bruce Younker, all of Arizona and Steve Younker, San Diego, CA

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Vada on January 8, 2013, and a son-in-law Mark Wanerus.

Funeral services will be held on 10:30 AM Thursday at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence, Iowa with Rev. Sheri Andersen officiating. Burial will be in the Wilson Cemetery, Independence, IA. Friends may call from 4 to 8 PM, Wednesday and from 8 AM till services Thursday at the funeral home.
