Ralph Edward Weber, Jr., 72, of Independence, IA died Tuesday, February 7th, 2017 at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo, Iowa.

Ralph was born on December 5, 1944 in Independence, IA the son of Ralph E. and Irene H. (Bagby) Weber, Sr. He graduated from St. John’s Catholic High School in 1963. He served with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Conflict from June 24, 1963 thru June 17, 1967. Upon his return from the service became employed with Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids and attended Hawkeye Community College, Waterloo, IA where he received an Engineering Tech. certification. In 1972 Ralph became employed with the John Deere Company’s PEC Division in Waterloo until his retirement on December 31, 2001.

Ralph was married to Dorothy J. Allen on September 13, 1969 in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fairbank, Iowa. The couple made their home in Independence, Iowa. Ralph was active in the St. John’s Catholic Church, The St. Pius 10th Knights of Columbus, Independence, IA, a member of the Hennessey Assembly 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, Waterloo, Iowa

Ralph loved to spend time with his family and friends, he enjoyed fishing, tinkering on cars, asparagus and mushroom hunting.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years Dorothy J. Weber, Independence, IA, two sons; Clark (Roxanne) Weber, Cedar Rapids, IA, and Dean (Kelli) Weber of Waukee, IA. Four grandchildren; Drew (Kelsey Adams) and Ian, Cedar Rapids, IA, Addison and Maxx, Waukee, IA, and a great grandson Mason of Cedar Rapids, IA. A brother; Eldon (Kathy) Weber, Cottage Grove, MN, and a sister-in-law Teresa Weber, Taylor Ridge, IL.

Ralph was preceded in death by a son Barry Weber in 1974, his parents, , two sisters; Alberta Martin, and Shirley Walsh, and a brother; Arnold Weber

A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday at St. John’s Catholic Church, Independence, IA with Rev. David Beckman officiating. Burial will be at a later date in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Independence. Friends may call from 3 to 8 PM Thursday and from 8 to 10 AM Friday at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence where a rosary will be recited at 3 PM Thursday.
