Obituary for William Jay Zimpher
William J. Zimpher, 75, of Independence, Iowa died Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at the ABCM Rehabilitation Center’s West Campus in Independence, Iowa.
William was born on March 24, 1942 in Independence, Iowa the son of Bert and Alta N. (Beck) Zimpher. He attended the Independence Community Schools, and was employed in construction in the Independence area. He also was employed as a custodian with St. John’s Catholic Church in Independence.
He enjoyed playing in pool leagues, fishing, stock car races, and playing cards.
William is survived by a sister; Neva Beene, Tampa, Florida, and a brother; Bert Zimpher, Waterloo, Iowa, and nieces and nephews; Deb & Larry Hanna, Bill & Tammy Meister and other nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by twin sisters in infancy and a sister; Lucille Meister, and brothers; Albet and George Meister
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday in the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence, Iowa with Rev. Sue Ann Raymond officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 PM Friday and from 9 AM to services Saturday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial may be directed to the William J. Zimpher, % Security State Bank, 231 1st St. E.; Independence, IA 50644
