Obituary for Donald J "Don" Bearbower
Donald J. Bearbower, age 59, of rural Jesup, Iowa, died Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City of lung cancer.
He was born March 16, 1958 in Independence, Iowa the son of William and Melba (Buchholz) Bearbower. Don attended Elementary School in Rowley and graduated from Independence High School with the Class of 1976. He was united in marriage with Mona “Susie” Downing on October 10, 1981 in Independence.
Don worked for Weitz Industrial for many years, retiring in 2017. He loved to work on projects at the farm, gardening, and being outdoors; he especially loved deer hunting. He was a member of Laborers Union Local 43.
Survivors include his wife, Susie of Jesup; a son, Andy (Ira) Bearbower of Madrid, IA; a daughter, Chelsea (Jon) Judd of Rowley and a granddaughter, Amy Bearbower of Madrid.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Ronald and a sister, Sandra in infancy.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Reiff Funeral Home in Independence with burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Public visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Monday, September 4 and after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Funeral Home.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
