Obituary for Cato Warren Allsup

Cato W. Allsup, 67, of Winthrop, IA and Quasqueton, IA, died Sunday, September 10, 2017 at the Buchanan County Health Center in Independence, IA.

Cato was born on December 27, 1949 in Independence, Iowa the son of Harry S. and Anna (Webb) Allsup. He was raised in Quasqueton, IA and attended East Buchanan School District. He enlisted in the US Army in 1974 and served proudly until is Honorable Discharge. On August 21, 1976 he married Cynthia Zoe Niedert in Rowley, IA, and they made their home in Quasqueton. Cato worked as a Journeymen Carpenter for over twenty years; for the Local Carpenter 308 Union.

He especially enjoyed a cup of coffee with friends and neighbors. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on cars and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his mother Anna Allsup–Straw, Quasqueton, IA, two sons Chad (Monica) Niedert, Rowley, IA, and Jared Allsup, Winthrop, IA, two grandchildren, Lorna and Garret, three sisters Laura (George) Arnold, Walker, IA, Renee (Dan) Williams, Cutler, ME, and Roseann (Terry) Carson, Elmwood, WI, two brothers; Harry (Jackie) and Matt Allsup, Quasqueton, IA, and many nieces and nephews.

Cato was preceded in death by his wife, Cynthia, father, Harry, and a brother Jeff Allsup.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday at the Union Church, Quasqueton, IA, with burial in the Quasqueton Cemetery, a graveside Military Honors will be held. Friends may call from 4 to 8 PM Wednesday at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Quasqueton, IA, and from 9 AM until services Thursday at the church in Quasqueton, IA.
