Obituary for Calvin John Pont

Calvin J. Pont, 59, of Hazelton, IA, died Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at his home.

He was born to Larry A. and Patricia Lee (Melichar) Pont, on September 15, 1958, in Cedar Rapids, IA. Calvin graduated from Urbana High school. After graduating high school his family moved to Oelwein, IA, where they purchased a bowling alley, Sunnyside Lanes. Together the family ran the bowling alley for many years. He also worked as a mechanic at Transco Railway Products Inc. and at Hallburg Ag Equipment.

Calvin enjoyed keeping his hands busy and worked on several different vehicles in his spare time. He collected toy tractors and listened to classic rock. Calvin also enjoyed riding with friends and working on his Harley Davidson motorcycle. Most of all, he loved spending time outdoors with his family and friends.

He is survived by his mother; Patricia L. Deardoff, Independence, IA, his children; Karen (Mike) Seeders, Oelwein, IA, Robin (Cody) Pattison, Evansdale, IA, Shawn Pont, Hazleton, IA, three grandchildren, and his brothers and sisters; Allen (Kim) Pont, Oelwein, IA, Judy (Mark) Norton, Strawberry Point, IA, Teresa Damon, Oelwein, IA.

He is preceded in death by his father Larry Allen Pont, and close family friend, Calvin Statler

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 AM, on June 9, 2018, at Fontana Park, Hazelton, IA.
