Obituary for Catherine Rose "Kay" Anderson (Dausener)

Catherine (Kay) R. Anderson, 93, of Independence, IA died Sunday, July 8, 2018 at Buchanan County Health Center in Independence, IA.

Kay was born on December 8, 1924 in Dubuque, IA, the daughter of Dr. Christian H. and Ellamina (Meyer) Dausener. She was a 1942 graduate of Parkersburg High School, Parkersburg, IA. On January 18, 1943 she married Russell James Anderson in Waterloo, Iowa. She owned and operated a ceramic shop in Waterloo called K’s Shoppe. In the mid 1980’s, she and Russell moved to a home on the Wapsipinicon river in rural Independence, IA. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters and TOPS group in Jesup, IA.

She enjoyed going to the casinos as well as playing bingo. Above all else she enjoyed time with her family.

She is survived by her son Scott (Joyce) Anderson, Brandon, IA, 12 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, and a daughter-in-law Bonnie Jean Anderson Waterloo, IA.

Kay is preceded in death by her parents, Christian and Ellamina Dausener, her husband, Russell Anderson, two children; Ted Anderson and Judi (Dean) Christensen, and a sister Shirley Scheffert.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on July 12, 2018, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Independence, IA, with Rev. David Beckman presiding. Burial will be held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Waterloo, IA. Visitation will be held from 4 until 7 P.M. on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at the Reiff Family Center & Funeral Home in Independence, IA.
