Steven P. Kirby, 64, of Independence, IA died Monday, September 3, 2018 at Buchanan County Health Center in Independence, IA.

Steven was born on February 25, 1954 in Iowa City, IA the son of Charles M. and Charlotte A. (McCann) Kirby. He was raised in Quasqueton, IA and attended the East Buchanan County School District. After he finished attending school he worked as a janitor at Quasqueton school and did carpentry for Main Construction in Independence. Steven enjoyed working with his hands, and for many years he worked from home as auto mechanic. In 1974 he was married Cheryl Fox, and they were later divorced. Steven married Marvis L. Straw in Quasqueton, on June 8, 1991, and they made their home in Independence, IA.

He is survived by his wife Marvis Kirby, Independence, IA his children; Travis Kirby, Independence, IA, Kota Winchester, Independence, IA, Cheyenne Kirby, Stillwater, MN, his grandchildren; Zane Kirby, Zachary Kirby, Jacob Conner, Kristina Brown, Darrian Kirby, Braiden Kirby, Kaleb Kirby, Patrick Kirby, his siblings; Sheldon Kirby, Oelwein, IA, Dorance Kirby, Quasqueton, IA, Diana King, Quasqueton, IA, , and many nieces and nephews.

Steven is preceded in death by his parents; Charles M. and Charlotte A. Kirby, and his grandparents; Myrtle McCann and Maurice McCann

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, September 9, 2018 from 1 to 4 P.M. at the Tom & Deb Erickson Residence 2618 Stewart Ave Winthrop, IA, 50682.
