Obituary for Raymond Chasley "Ray" Luck

Raymond C. Luck, 78, of Independence, Iowa died Saturday morning, November 10, 2012 at the ABCM Rehab Center’s West Campus in Independence, Iowa.

Raymond was born on March 16, 1934, near New Hartford, Iowa the son of Ernest and Evelyn (Jepperson) Luck. He attended the New Hartford Schools and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. Following his discharge he returned to Iowa and married Judy M. Shonka on July 25, 1969 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The family made their home in the Independence area where he was employed with Titus Metal and the John Deere Company in Waterloo, Iowa. The family then moved to Frisco, TX, where Ray became employed with the City of Frisco for 10 years prior to returning to the Independence, Iowa area.

He is survived by his wife; Judy M. Luck, Independence, IA., four children; Robin (Dave) Brainerd, Luana, IA., Kevin VanLaningham, Independence, IA., Kris VanLaningham, Quasqueton, IA., and Karmalyn VanLaningham, Independence, IA, five grandchildren, a great grandson, and four sisters; Barbara Gott, Hemit, CA, Clara Deucker, Lisbon, IA, Emma DeVries, Greene, IA, and Laura Jean Catherwood, Waterloo, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Harry & William Luck, and a sister; Nina Carlin.

Funeral services will be held at 1; 30 P.M. Tuesday at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence, IA, with burial in the Wilson Cemetery, Independence. Friends may call from 9 A.M. till services Tuesday at the Funeral Home.
