Marian M. Nelson, 91 of Independence, Iowa died Saturday, September 7, 2013 at the Buchanan County Long Term Care Center, Independence, IA.

Marian was born on August 8, 1922 near Rowley, Iowa the daughter of Lee J. and Maude V. (Anson) Kress. She was a 1939 graduate of the Quasqueton High School. On February 24, 1941 she was married to Everett H. Nelson. The couple farmed in the Buchanan County Area until their retirement.

She is survived by seven children;, Judy (Keith) Roberts and Margaret Ownby all of Independence, Iowa, Patricia Nelson, Kailua Kona, Hawii, Connie Harris, Cedar Rapids, IA., Douglas Nelson, St. Petersburg, FL., Dean (Malia) Nelson, Honolulu, Hawaii, Brian (Leslie) Nelson, Fairview, NC., 21 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and 1 great great granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Everett Nelson in 2011 two daughters; Jane Boies, and Sharon Thompson, a grandchild,; Ronnie Scott, two sisters; Grace Nelson, and Edna Adams, and a brother Dale Kress

Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Monday at the First Presbyterian Church, Independence, IA., with Rev. John Hougan officiating. . Friends may call from 4 to 8 P.M. Sunday at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence, IA. Private interment services will be held in the Rowley Cemetery, Rowley, Iowa
