Obituary for Francis Leo Levendusky

Francis L. Levendusky, 78, of Independence, Iowa died Thursday, October 17, 2013 at the Buchanan County Health Center in Independence, Iowa.

Francis was born on February 26, 1935, in Waterloo, Iowa the son of Leo and Anna (Phillips) Levendusky. He was a graduate of the Hazleton High School and joined the Iowa National Guard after High School.

He was united in marriage to Maria A. Warrenburg on June 28, 1975 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waterloo, Iowa. The couple lived in Hazleton, Iowa where Francis was a dairy farmer. In 1976 they moved to an acreage in Jesup, Iowa where Francis raised cattle and hogs as well as drove semi truck for ten years prior to his retirement in 1999.

Francis was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, He enjoyed everything related to farming.

He is survived by his wife, Maria, Independence, IA., a daughter, Lara Blair, Hudson, IA., a granddaughter, Tanna Blair, Johnston, IA., a sister; Rosemary Levendusky, Waterloo, IA., and three brothers; Don (Phyllis) Levendusky, Mitchell, IA, James Russell (Janet) Levendusky, Mountain Home, AK, and Johnny Levendusky, Waterloo, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister JoAnne Levendusky.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday at St. John’s Catholic Church, Independence, IA, with Rev. Don Plamondon officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Independence, IA. The Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family with the arrangements.
