Fern Price, 85, of Independence, IA died on Saturday, November 2, 2013, at ABCM Rehabilitation Center West Campus in Independence, IA.

She was born on May 17, 1928, in Independence, IA, the daughter of Grace W. (Morarie) and Howard Hines. On October 15, 1942 she married Tom Price in Kohoka, MO. Fern was the bookkeeper for the many businesses she and Tom owned, most recently the Gayla Ballroom, Price Truck Sales & Service, and Price Feed & Grain.

She is survived by two daughters Diana Price, Independence, IA, and Patricia (Harold) Gosse, Rochelle, IL; one son Thomas “Buck” (Cheryl) Price, Rowley, IA, Eleven Grandchildren, Twenty One Great Grandchildren, and Twenty Two Great Great Grandchildren. A sister Catherine Smith, Independence, IA., and a special friend Linda Hummel.

Fern is preceded in death by her parents, Grace and Howard Hines, her husband, Tom; two sons, William and James; one daughter, Nancy Yearous; two grandsons, Timothy Gosse and Thomas Price;.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday, November 8, 2013 at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence, IA with Rev. Dawn Pederson officiating. Burial will be held at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Independence, IA. Friends may call from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence, IA.
