William P. Danehy, 79, of Independence, IA died on September 11th, 2014 at the Buchanan County Health Center in Independence, IA, after battling a long illness

William was born June 1, 1935 in Independence Iowa, the son of Fergus & Effie Mae (Kiggins) Danehy. He attended Independence Schools. On August 16, 1960 he was untied in marriage to Sharon Rae Nutt in Independence, IA. He worked for 17 years for Walnut Grove in Independence, IA. He enjoyed many things in life, racing, hunting and fishing was at the top of his list, but he loved his family most of all.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by his beloved Wife Sharon Rae in 2011. Three brothers Jay Danehy, Frank Danehy, and George Danehy, three sisters Patty Jamison, Dorothy Davis, and Elizabeth Danehy, and a granddaughter Brittany Mae Danehy.

He is survived by his children William Patrick (Carol) Danehy Jr., Muscoda, WI, Deanna Sue (Ed) Danehy-Hyke, Independence, IA, Suzette Marie (Brad) Danehy, Hazelton, IA, Melinda Ann (Kim) Tieleban, Hazelton, IA, a sister Betty Necker, Hazelton, IA, ten grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, September 15th, 2014 at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory in Independence, with Sharon Bainbridge officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date.
