Martin H. Oleson, 88, of Independence, Iowa and formerly of the Waterloo, Cedar Falls, Iowa area died Wednesday afternoon at the ABCM Rehabilitation Center’s West Campus in Independence, Iowa

Martin was born on March 9, 1927 in Bremer County, Iowa the son of Andrew and Mildred (Frerichs) Oleson. He served in the US Navy, and on January 29, 1949 was married to Beverly Ann Drommerhausen in Albert Lee, Minnesota. The couple lived in Mason City, Iowa where he was employed as a mechanic at a car dealership. The couple later moved to Waterloo, Iowa and Martin was employed as a carpenter with his uncle Albert Oleson and later with Nobel Cabinet Shop prior to his retirement. The couple recently moved to Independence, Iowa.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly, four children; Sharon Oleson, San Marcos, CA, Tom (Kathy) Oleson, Evansdale, IA, Sue McWhorten, Troy, MO, Tim (Cherry) Oleson, Dallas, TX. Three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services will be held at 10 AM Friday at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence, IA with Rev. Robert Solon officiating.
