Donald Henry "Don"  Toale
Donald H. Toale, 60, of Independence, Iowa died Monday, May 23, 2016 at the Buchanan County Health Center, Independence of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Don was born on January 11, 1956 in Independence, Iowa the son of Francis M. and Clara R. (DePape) Toale. He was a 1974 graduate of St. John’s Catholic High School. On December 11, 1976 he was married to Mardene (Marty) C. Ohrt and the couple farmed near Independence, IA.

He loved spending time with his family, and enjoyed farming, cooking, going grocery shopping and traveling.

Don is survived by his wife Marty, three children Mark (Lacey) Toale, Independence, IA, Amanda (Daniel) Dvorak, Windsor Heights, IA, and Andrea Toale, Cedar Rapids, IA. Ten grandchildren, his mother Clara Toale, Independence, IA, two sisters; Rosemary (Ronald) Engelhardt, Elkader, IA, Sue (Tom) Knapp, Des Moines, IA and three brothers; Richard (Ann) Toale, Independence, IA, Roger Toale, Irving, CA, and Msgr. Rev. Thomas Toale, Dubuque, IA, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Francis Toale.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM Friday at St. John’s Catholic Church, Independence, IA with Msgr. Rev. Thomas Toale and Rev. Don Plamondon concelebrating. Burial will be in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 PM Thursday and from 8 AM to 10 AM Friday at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence where a rosary will be recited at 4 PM Thursday.
