Donald Jay Becker, 61, of Independence, Iowa and formerly of Jesup, Iowa died Monday, August 28, 2017 at the ABCM Rehabilitation Center’s West Campus in Independence, Iowa.

Don was born on June 1, 1956 in Independence, Iowa the son of Earl A. and Elizabeth D. (Beier) Becker. He was a 1974 graduate of the Independence High School and received a Police Science Degree from Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo, Iowa. Don served on the Independence, Jesup and Fairbank police departments until his retirement. On June 30, 1984, he was married to Billie Jo Kilby. The couple later divorced.

He is survived by two sons; Ethan (Kelsey) Becker, Wichita, Kansas, and Avery Becker, Independence, Iowa. Two grandchildren; Charlie and Memphis Becker, Wichita, Kansas. Two brothers; Dennis Becker, Des Moines, Iowa and Jim Becker, Center Point, IA, and a sister; Sandy Tudor, Independence, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Private family memorial services will be held at a later date.
