Obituary for James Bryan Rhea

James B. Rhea, 70, of Hazelton, IA died Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at his home in Hazelton, IA.

He was born on December 23, 1947 in Knoxville, TN the son of James H. and Mary E. (Ford) Rhea. He attended high school in Apopka, FL, and joined the U.S. Army in 1971. He married Julie Ann Smith in Washington, IA in 1973 and they later divorced. Later in 1977 he married Jeanette Halverson, in Iowa City, IA. Then in 2000 he remarried Julie Smith in Cedar Rapids, IA. Julie died on December 8, 2016 in a house fire. James traveled across the United States, and other parts of the world as a truck driver, with over 43 years of experience. He made his home in Hazelton, IA in February of 2018.

James enjoyed staying busy with his hands, and always had a project car to work on. He also enjoyed spending time with friends and family, but his grandchildren meant the world to him.

He is survived by his children, James H. Rhea, Jamie Halvorson, Rebecca Gordon, and Randy Burgess, seven grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Two sisters, Nancy Oliver and Judy Manginolli, and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James H. and Mary E. Rhea, wife Julie Rhea, and his ex-wife Jeanette M. Halvorson

There will be a private family Memorial service held at a later date.
