Richard R. Rush, 67, of Hazleton, IA died Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Buchanan County Health Center in Independence, IA.

He was born on April 30, 1951, in Casper, WY, the son of Dennis E. and Muriel “Gwen” (Mark) Rush. He attended the Casper, WY schools and was a 1969 graduate of Kelly Walsh High School. On July 10, 1987 he married Ricci R. Thornton in Phoenix, AZ. They later moved to Ottumwa, IA, and eventually made their home in Hazelton, IA. Richard worked as a Parts Manager for many years, most recently for O’Reilly’s Auto Parts, until his retirement in 2014.

Richard is survived by his wife of thirty years, Ricci R. Rush, Hazelton, IA, his mother; Muriel “Gwen” Rush, Casper, WY, his two sons; Bradley Rush, Nashville, TN, and Nathan Rush, Phoenix, AZ, six grandchildren; Monica, Erin, Ethan, and Cheyenne Rush, and Christian and Daisy Long, three brothers Mark (Pat) Rush, Casper, WY, Kenny Rush, Casper, WY, and David Rush, Phoenix, AZ, a sister Lori (Jeff) Eger, Denver, CO, his mother-in-law Shirley Thornton, two brothers-in-law, Rennie Thornton, and Rusty (Lisa) Thornton, a sister-in-law, Ronda Frye, and many nieces, and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father, Dennis E. Rush, father-in-law, Richard Thornton, a stepson, Adam Long, and a brother, Gary Rush.
