Obituary for Barbara Jean Estes
Barbara J. Estes, 73, of Independence, IA died on Sunday January 6, 2019 at her home.
Barbara was born on December 21, 1945 in Manchester, Iowa the daughter of Vernie H. and Lucy M. (Troup) Hines. She was raised in Independence, IA and attended the Independence Public Schools. On March 22, 1968 she married Bobby Jo Estes in Bell Flower, CA. They made their home in Independence where they raised their children. Barbara spent many years working as a Product Demonstrator in stores throughout the area. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Independence and served as a past President of the Eagles Club and the Food Pantry in Independence.
She is survived by her children; James (Deanne) Holden, Independence, IA, Robert (Lynn) Estes, Independence, IA, and Lucy (Tom Crawford) Estes, Independence, IA, nine grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and two sisters Dorothy (Duane) Clinton, Independence, IA, and Beulah (Edwin) Skripsky, Independence, IA, and special friend Mike Flaherty.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Vernie and Lucy Hines, her husband of forty-four years, Bobby Jo Estes, a sister Geneva (Jim) Smith, and two brothers Kenny Hines and Donald “Dutch” (Edith) Forysthe.
A private Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
