Obituary for Barbara Elizabeth Harney (Tirrell)
Barbara Elizabeth Harney, 64, of Waterloo, Iowa died Tuesday, December 10th 2019, at her home in Waterloo, Iowa surrounded by her family.
Barbara was born on October 14th, 1955 in Long Island, NY the daughter of Helen Russo & Joseph Tirrell. She married Joseph Harney in 1975 and they later divorced. Barbara then got into a long-term relationship with Karl Kotash and they had five children.
Barbara was employed as a CNA with Hospitals and Nursing Homes in Florida. She enjoyed attending karaoke at various establishments in Edgewater, FL., where she met and remained friends with a lot of wonderful people.
She is survived by her five children; Michael (Cassie) Harney, Waterloo, IA., Michelle Harney, Yonkers, NY., Erik Harney, Waterloo, IA., Jessica Harney, Edgewater, FL., and Daniel Harney, Edgewater, FL. Ten grandchildren, and siblings Joe, Bobby, Joan and Jane all of Edgewater, FL., and a many of nieces and nephews.
She is proceeded in death by her parents, siblings Helen, Patricia, Doris and Larry, and longtime companion Karl Kotash
The family will hold a Celebration of Barbara’s Life at a later time. The Reiff Family Center of Independence is assisting the family with arrangements.
