Obituary

Cody Kenneth Vande Voorde, 38, of Marion, IA, passed away on April 25, 2020 at his parents’ home in rural Aurora, IA.

Cody was born on April 8, 1982 in Independence, IA to Greg and Brenda (Wright) Vande Voorde. He attended East Buchanan High School and graduated in 2000. At the time of his death he was employed as an acquisition’s specialist for JCG Land Services, Inc. in Cedar Rapids, IA. In 2003 he had a son, Clayton Donald, with Melissa Briggman. On June 7, 2014 he was united in marriage to Amanda Hoeninghausen. They had one son, Warren Gregory, and later divorced. Cody was an ambitious, thrill seeking, jack-of-all-trades, urban cowboy. He loved the simpler things in life, like picking up hitchhikers and quoting old westerns. He loved his friends and making people smile. From bull riding to Tough Mudders, from mountain biking to noodling catfish, he and his brother, Spenser, kept each other competing at life. He enjoyed sharing his love of the outdoors with his sons.

He is survived by his sons, Clayton and Warren Vande Voorde. Amanda Vande Voorde, Cedar Rapids, IA, his parents Greg and Brenda, Aurora, IA, his sister, Caitlyn (Doug) Scherbring, Dundee, IA, his brother, Spenser (Whitney Honsbruch), Manchester, IA. His nieces Alexis McTaggart and Claire Scherbring and nephew, Tyson Scherbring. Many aunts, uncles, cousins, a special friend Angie Cook, his faithful dog, Yeti and countless friends.

So very sorry for your loss. Cody was a fun loving guy. I met him when he was younger and friends with my son
Ben Steinbron. Ben would like to send his condolences to the family. Ben loved Cody and was sad to hear that Cody passed away. Ben has many good memories with good times with Cody.
Ben liked getting together and they often had lunch as Ben worked in Cedar Rapids; they were longtime friends. Cody will be missed very much. Thoughts and prayers to the family. Debbie Frey

We were so blessed to get to know Cody, Branda and Whitey thank you for allowing us to get to know your son we have so many find memories he was Cory’s first friend in Winthrop. He always had us laughing that boy was always up to something. I can remember taking him to football games to watch Cory play football and he’d have us laughing so hard in the car I’m surprised I managed to keep the car on the road.He always had a smile on his face he had the biggest heart.
