Cory L. Champlin, 57, of Independence, IA died on Wednesday October16, 2019 at her home in Independence, IA.
Cory was born on April 7, 1962 in Minneapolis, MN the daughter of Derek and Dencil M. (Wilts) Champlin. She attended various schools in Minnesota and Wisconsin before her family made their home in Independence, IA in 1976. She was a 1980 graduate of St. John’s Catholic High School, Independence, IA. On June 15, 1985 she married Rick Holt at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Independence, IA; the couple later divorced. Cory loved to cook, and spent many years working as a Cook.
She is survived by her two sons; Michael Holt, Independence, IA and John (Sarah) Holt, Ankeny, IA, two brothers; Kirk (Jill) Champlin, Annandale, MN, and Jon Krattenmaker, Darwin, MN, a sister Kim (Norbert) Heinen, Independence, IA, many nieces and nephews, a close cousin Bonnie Hunter, Brainerd, MN, and two grand dogs Champ and Barry.
Cory is preceded in death by her father, Derek Champlin, her step-father Kenneth E. Krattenmaker, and her mother Dencil Krattenmaker.
A Visitation will be held from 3 PM until 6 PM on Sunday October 20, 2019 and a Funeral Service will be held at 10 AM on Monday October 21, 2019, at the Reiff Family Center – Funeral Home & Crematory in Independence, IA. Burial will be held at a later date.
