Obituary for Dewey Allen Millard Sr.
Dewey A. Millard, 42, of Oelwein, IA formally of Independence, IA died Sunday, February 24, 2019 at Buchanan County Health Center in Independence, IA.
Dewey was born on February 4, 1977 in Independence, IA, the son of Ronnie L. Millard and Shirley A. Kern. He attended the Independence e Community Schools in Independence, IA. On July 3rd, 2003 he married Monica Marie Markin in Independence, IA, they later divorced. He worked as a laborer for several years at the Wapsi Valley Creamery, and later as a cook at the Burger King in Independence. He moved to Oelwein in 2015.
He enjoyed wood working and would take his art to local flea markets for sale. He loved to spend time outdoors fishing and camping with his children and family.
He is survived by his children Dewey A. Millard Jr., and Beyonca R. Millard both of Oelwein, IA, his parents; Ronnie L (Kathy) Millard, and Shirley A. (Vince Diskin) Kern, both of Independence, IA, five sisters; Sherry Kern, Independence, IA, Shana (Martin) Albright, Michoacan, Mexico, Laura Banks, Hazelton, IA, Jessica Millard, West Salem, WI, and Mariah (Chris Wilkinson) Millard, Prairie Du Chien, WI, three brothers; Benjamin (Andrea) Millard, Cedar Rapids, IA, Joshua (Mariah) Millard, Independence, IA, and Rocky Millard, Fairbank, IA, and many nieces and nephews.
Dewey is preceded in death by a brother Ronnie L. Millard Jr., his grandparents Orvel and Shirley Kern, and William “Kenneth” and Neva Millard.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on Friday, March 1, 2019 at the Reiff Family Center & Funeral Home in Independence, IA, with Pastor Gary Wilson Officiating. Burial will be held at the Littlton Cemetery in Littleton, IA. Visitation will be from 12:30 PM until services on Friday at the Reiff Family Center & Funeral Home.
