Obituary for Dolores Frances "Dee" Moothart (Meisch)

Dolores F. Moothart, 99, of Waterloo, Iowa died Wednesday August 21, 2019 at the Lakeview Landing in Waterloo, Iowa.

Dolores was born on January 14, 1920 in Waterloo, IA the daughter of Thomas N. and Margaret F. (Koster) Meisch. She was a 1937 graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Waterloo, and a 1941 graduate of Briar Cliff College, Sioux City, IA. On February 1, 1943 she was united in marriage to Merle R. Moothart at St. John’s Catholic Church, Waterloo, IA. Dolores was employed as a secretary to the Registrar at the Iowa State Teachers College prior to becoming a homemaker and raising her six children.

Dolores enjoyed reading, baking her famous chocolate chip cookies, traveling and dancing with her husband Merle, and following her children and grandchildren to all their activities. Her laughter was contagious, and she loved to live life to the fullest with her family at the forefront and always cautioning her family to “Use Good Judgement”

Surviving her to wave white hankies are her six children; Judy (David) Grdina, Naperville, IL, Annette (Jim) Lyons, Clinton, IA, Tim (Mary) Moothart, Dubuque, IA, Margaret (Terry) Wittenberg, Fredericksburg, TX, Steve (Mary) Moothart, Hot Springs Village, AR, Peter (Joann) Moothart, Owatonna, MN. Sixteen grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, and a sister Delphine Marlow, Arlington, VA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Merle in 2010, three sisters; Celeste Oberle, Rita Penne, Thomasine Furnia, and a brother Norbert Meisch.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Waterloo, IA with Rev. George Karnik officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 PM Friday at the Hagarty, Waychoff, Graup Funeral Home, 400 South Street, Waterloo, IA, where a rosary will be recited at 4 PM and a Vigil Service will be held at 7:30 PM Friday.
