Obituary for Elizabeth Ann Smith

Elizabeth “Libbey” Ann Smith was born October 24th, 1981 in Iowa City, Iowa weighing three pounds five and half ounces. She was born with Cerebral Palsy which led to other health issues throughout her life.

Libbey started her life in Shell Rock, IA and her family later moved to Waterloo, IA. She attended Carey Elementary School and graduated in 2000 from West High School in Waterloo, IA. Libbey walked across the stage with the aid of her walker and received a standing novation for her accomplishments. She went on and to take several classes at Hawkeye Tech in Waterloo, IA.

She also did volunteer work at Covenant Hospital in Waterloo, IA, Goodwill Industries and several physically challenged organizations.

Libbey attended Rivers Edge Church of Christ and kept active in the youth group.

She enjoyed music and her favorite singing group was NSYNC. Libbey’s loved writing poetry and reading and most of all achieving goals set before her. Her favorite things to do with the family were going to movies, camping, swimming and fishing. She also loved playing cards with her cousin, Brandon.

Libbey lived in Lake City, IA and died due to medical complications on January 16, 2021. She will be missed by all.

She is survived by her parents; Patricia and Scott Smith, Quasqueton, IA; Orville and Marlys Nitcher, (maternal grandparents), Duane Smith (paternal grandfather) and several Aunts and Uncles.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Twila B. Smith.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Rivers Edge Church of Christ, 1247 Cedar Bend Street, Waterloo, IA at 10 AM.
