Esther L. “Jackie” Traut, 95, of Manchester, Iowa, and formerly of the Pocahontas, and Oskaloosa, Iowa area died Sunday, October 18, 2020 at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester, IA.

Esther was born on November 16, 1924, the daughter of Weldon and Alice (Clark) White near Mt. Aryer, Iowa. She attended the Mt. Ayer Schools. She married Charles Weatherwax on May 16, 1941 in Princeton, MO. The were blessed with four children: Charles (Karen) Weatherwax, Jr., JoAnna (Harold) Francis, Terry (Brenda) Weatherwax, and David (Jane) Weatherwax. She had many stepchildren, grandchildren, step grandchildren, great grandchildren, and step great grandchildren. A brother: John (Sony) White of Davenport, IA., and a sister-in-law: Betty White, Cedar Rapids, IA.

She was preceded in death by her husbands: Charles Weatherwax, Sr., Clyde Newell, Ed Traut. A daughter-in-law; Patricia Weatherwax, brothers and sister-in law: James, Donald and Evelyn White, and a grandson Mark Weatherwax.

Graveside services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, October 24, 2020 at the Summit Hill Cemetery, Pocahontas, IA with Rev. Kurt Pasko officiating. Mask and social distancing are strongly suggested.

The Reiff Family Center of Independence, IA. is assisting the family with arrangements.

Jackie was working 3-11 when I started at Pocahontas Community Hospital in 1989. It was Jo Schoon, Terry Williams, Char Samuelson and Jackie. Those ladies taught us newbies how things were done. Hope they’re all together reminiscing. Deb Ripperger
