For many years Harold belonged to a group of close friends in Independence who called themselves The Shysters.

Harold loved spending time with his family outdoor. They spent many summers camping throughout Iowa, and enjoyed their time at the Fontana Campground in Hazelton, IA. He taught his sons his love of the outdoors by joining the Boy Scouts with them as the Pack 75 leader for many years. He also was passionate about baseball and loved the Chicago Cubs. He and his sons attend many games at Wrigley Field.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Sherry Jacobs, Independence, IA, their three sons, Mike (Sheri Evers) Jacobs, Delhi, IA, Jeff (Nicole) Jacobs, Tampa, FL, and Mark (Ann Crawford) Colona, IL, five grandchildren, a brother, Richard (Karen) Jacobs, Marion, IA, and a sister; Linda (Ron) Coleman, Higginsville, MO.

I have fond memories of sledding on Blamers Hill as it was called. The Jacobs Family lived at the top. Sharon always looked out for us when we were sledding. Harold was a Great Guy!
