Obituary for Joe Dale Andersen
Joe D. Andersen, 65, of Independence, IA died Monday, November 4, 2019 at the Cedar Valley Hospice House in Waterloo, IA.
He was born on March 19, 1954 in Waterloo, IA, the son of Ernest F. and Murial M. (Dillon) Andersen. He was a member of the Independence High School graduating class of 1973. Shortly after high school he married Susan Greenwood in Independence, and they were later divorced. On February 11, 1978 he married Zelda Jean Franck in Independence, IA. For many years he worked for Larson Construction and later for Jensen Trucking in Independence, IA.
Joe loved spending time outdoors, spending time with his pets and hunting with family and friends. He loved a lot of things during his life, but his family was the most important thing to him.
He is survived by his wife of forty one years, Zelda Andersen, Independence, IA, two daughters Laura (Donnie) Bjorheim, Galesville, WI, Lynn (Joseph) Schwinghammer, Independence, IA, a daughter-in-law Amanda Buchtela, Oelwein, IA, a son Chad (Lisa) Stelter, Independence, IA, five grandchildren; Ashley and Katie Buchtela, Brandon Schwinghammer, and Troy and Matt Stelter, a sister Carol (Wayne) Hilliard, Brandon, IA, a brother Don (Cherly) Andersen, Walker, IA, and many nieces and nephews.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Murial Andersen, and a son Leonard Buchtela
A Celebration of Life will be held from 2 PM until 4 PM on Saturday November 16, 2019 at the VFW Hall 128 3rd Ave NE Independence, IA. The Reiff Family Center - Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
