Obituary for Mary Jo Sauer
Mary Jo Sauer, 65, of Cedar Falls, Iowa and formerly of Independence, IA., died December 4th, 2020 at her home in Cedar Falls.
Mary Jo was born on December 12, 1955 in Independence, Iowa the daughter of Ralph L. and Bernice (McKeever) Sauer. She attended the North Linn Community Schools in Troy, Mills, IA and was a 1975 graduate of Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids, IA. She later received a Certified Nursing Assistant certification from Hawkeye Tech in Waterloo, IA. She married James Bearbower in 1977, to which five children were born: Randy, Colleen, James, Pauline, and Jodi. The couple later divorced in 1994. She was employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Manor Care in Waterloo, and the East and West Care Centers in Independence for twenty-two years prior to her retirement. In 2005 Mary Jo moved to the Waterloo area.
She enjoyed socializing with her friends, however she was very close to her family. Whom she loved to spend time with especially taking care of and going shopping with her grandkids. She loved to crochet and do cross stitching.
She is survived by her children: Randy (Nikki) Werning, Evansdale, IA, Colleen Fangman, Center Point, IA, James Bearbower, Independence, IA., Pauline Bearbower, Waterloo, IA., and Jody Bearbower, Independence, IA. Fifteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Three brothers: Edwin (Eddie) Sauer, Shellsburg, IA., Bernard Sauer, Allburnet, IA., and Donald Sauer, Walker, IA., and many nieces and nephews.
Mary Jo was preceded in death by her parents: Ralph and Bernice Sauer, three brothers; Pete, Wayne, and Dean Sauer, and a sister Freda Peachee.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 1PM at the Circle Grove Cemetery, Walker, IA., with Rev. John Sheda officiating. The Reiff Family Center of Independence, Iowa is assisting the family with arrangements.
