Obituary for Patricia Ann "Pat" Junk

Patricia Ann Junk 81, of Independence, Iowa died Monday, April 15th at the Buchanan County Health Center in Independence, IA.

She was born on February 6, 1938 in Iowa City, Iowa the daughter of Charles S. and Elizabeth I. (Carroll) Henderson. She was a 1956 graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Waterloo, Iowa On May 11, 1957 she was married to Robert Junk in Waterloo, Iowa. She was employed with Members Mutual Oil Company, the American Soybean Association and with the John Deere Company prior to her retirement in 1991.

Pat enjoyed sewing, reading and especially spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years; Robert J. Junk, Independence, IA., two sons; Joseph (Sandy) Junk, Independence, IA., and Michael (Carolyn) Junk, Hudson, IA. Four grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and a sister; Mary Jo Kershisnik, Rock Springs, WY.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson; Justin Junk, a daughter-in-law; Jill Junk, and two brothers; Edward Monahan and James Henderson.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, April 17th at St. John’s Catholic Church, Independence, IA with Rev. David Beckman officiation. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Waterloo, IA. Friends may call from 4 to 8 PM Tuesday, and from 9 to 10 AM Wednesday at the Reiff Family Center in Independence where a Rosary will be recited at 4 PM and a parish vigil service will be held at 7:30 PM Tuesday.

In Lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the St. John's Catholic School.
