Obituary for Rosemary Alice Bogge (Brennan)

Rosemary A. Bogge, 95, of Independence, Iowa died Wednesday evening, June 5th at the Unity Point Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa

Rosemary was born on April 18, 1924 in Elma, Iowa the daughter of Eugene F. and Henrietta J. (Myers) Brennan. She graduated from the Immaculate Conception High School, Fairbank, Iowa in 1940. She worked at various places in Waterloo, IA, Hummel’s Luncheon, Osco Drug, Rath’s Packing and house Cleaning. On January 4, 1944 she wed Donald J. Bogge in St. John’s Catholic Church in Waterloo. The couple moved to Denver, Colorado where she became employed with the Presbyterian Hospital as a manager/bookkeeper of the student Nursing Cadets, enlistments of the government. In 1945 the family moved to Hazelton, IA., where the couple owned/operated a implement business until selling the business in 1968. The couple then moved to Altoona, IA and Rosemary became employed with Banker’s Life Insurance Company. On July 1, 1978 the family returned to a farm near Independence, IA. Following her husband Don’s death on December 15, 1998 she moved into Independence, IA.

Rosemary became involved in the community becoming a volunteer with the Cedar Valley Hospice, and a faithful volunteer with St. John’s Catholic Church. She loved sharing picnics with her family and friends gatherings where many memories were shared.

She is survived by three daughters; Patricia (Jim) Oakley, Hunnington Beach, CA, Carol Kirby, Iowa City, IA, and Mary Bogge, Boca Raton, FL. Five Grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Donald, a daughter Anne Marie (Bogge) Fischels, four brothers; Bud, Bob, Gene, Joe Brennan, and six sisters; Jeannette Lentz, Marie Masterson, Ruth Piegons, Katherine Beaumaster, Isabella Gansen and Elizabeth Brennan.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday at St. John’s Catholic Church, Independence with Rev. David Beckman officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 am to services Wednesday at the church.

The Reiff Family Center’s Funeral Home in Independence is assisting the family with arrangements.
