Obituary for Shaun Paul Oppenheimer

Shaun P. Oppenheimer, 54, of Quasqueton, IA died from a boating accident on March 21, 2020 in Guttenburg, IA.

Shaun was born on May 24, 1964 in Fort Madison, IA the son of Thomas G. and Sherry A. (Mathena) Oppenheimer. He was a 1983 graduate of Fort Madison High School. In 1989, he married Mary Conrad in Fort Madison, IA and they had three children together. The couple later divorced. Shaun moved to St. Olaf, IA, in 1995, where he traveled a lot for his work for Seedorff Masonry as a bricklayer, he later moved to Manchester, IA, and started working for Moyle Masonry. While living in Manchester he met Cheryl Goins, and they purchased a house and moved in together in Quasqueton, IA in 2009.

When he wasn’t working you could always find Shaun outside. He loved to fish, and hunt took his sons on several fishing trips throughout the years. One of the most memorable trips they took together was to the Boundary Waters in Northern Minnesota. He was an excellent hunter and fed his family many meals from his successful hunts. He enjoyed cooking, especially for the ones he loved. Shaun also enjoyed talking to people, and at family and friend gatherings he could make everyone feel at home.

He is survived by his parents, Thomas and Sherry Oppenheimer, Fort Madison, IA, his sons; Robert Oppenheimer, Cedar Rapids, IA, Jared Oppenheimer, Ottumwa, IA, and Derek Oppenheimer, Decorah, IA, his girlfriend Cheryl Goins, Quasqueton, IA, a brother, Jody (Martha) Oppenheimer, Fort Madison, IA, a sister, Sabrina (Scott) Miller, Springville, IA, and two nieces.

A celebration of life will be held at a late date.
