Obituary for William Lee Smith
William L. Smith, 61, of Jesup, IA formally of Indianapolis, IN, died on Friday May 29, 2021 at his home in Jesup, IA.
William was born on June 6, 1959, in Indianapolis, IN, the son of Charles R. and Joyce A. (Taylor) Smith. He attended the Indianapolis community schools.
William worked for many years as a car detailer at the Dan Young Chevrolet Dealership in Indianapolis. In 1986 he married Kim Scoggins they made their home just outside of Indianapolis. They later divorced in 1999.
In 2005 he felt like he needed to change his lifestyle and he moved to Postville, IA. He worked for many years at Agristar in Postville.
William enjoyed the time he spent with his neighbors and could talk with anyone for hours. He loved to joke with people and always tried to get a laugh.
William is survived by his sister Debra Smith, Jesup IA, and his brother Charles Ray Smith Jr., Rockville, IN, and many cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
A Private Memorial service will be held at a later date.
