Ronald F. Zimmerly, 84, died on June 27th, 2014 at the ABCM Rehabilitation Center , West Campus, In Independence, Iowa.

Ron was born July 17, 1929 in Independence Iowa, the son of Jesse P & Florence (Potts) Zimmerly. He was a 1947 graduate of Jefferson High School in Independence. He entered the United States Army in June of 1950 and was honorable discharged in May of 1953. On September 23, 1951 he was united in marriage to Agnes L. Fuhrman at the First Baptist Church in Independence, Iowa. He was employed at the Jensen Transport Company and Walnut Grove of Independence, Iowa. Ron also taught truck driving at Hawkeye Tech in Waterloo, Iowa for many years. He and his wife are life members of First Baptist Church, Independence, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother James Zimmerly

Ron is survived by his wife Agnes, children Rhonda Zimmerly , Lynn (Randi) Beier, Thomas ( Billie Jo) Zimmerly, Lorene Zimmerly, and Steven (Cindy) Zimmerly of Independence, IA; Terry (Jacki) Zimmerly of Bloomington, IL, Julie (Steve) Chapman of Casper, WY, 10 grandchildren, four great grandchildren, a brother Dale Zimmerly of Waterloo, IA, a sister Sandy Brown of Independence, IA

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence, with Dr. David Larson officiating. Inurnment in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:30 AM to service with a military service at 10:30 AM Wednesday at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory in Independence, IA.
