Catherine Heien (Ferguson) Bagley, 88, of Independence, Iowa died Sunday, December 18, 2016 at her home in Independence, IA.

Cathy was born on June 4, 1928 in Manchester, Connecticut the daughter of Alexander and Catherine (Stewart) Ferguson. She was a 1946 graduate of the Manchester High School in Manchester, CT. She married Malcolm I. Bagley on December 17, 1954 in Manchester, CT where the family made their home until moving to Independence, Iowa in 1964. Cathy was employed as an aid with Peoples Memorial Hospital until May 1, 1966 at which time she became a dispatcher with the Independence Police Department where she advanced to Chief Radio Dispatcher working till her retirement on May 14, 1993.

She loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She loved baking, working in her flower garden, traveling with her son Scott Bagley to Special Olympic events, and bowling in the Independence Women’s Bowling League. She enjoyed watching and cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Cathy is survived by four children; Brenda Bagley, Victoria, TX, Heather (John) Hotchkiss, Stewart (Christine) Bagley, and Scott Bagley all of Independence, IA. Eleven Grandchildren and Twenty Six Great Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Malcolm on March 10, 1976, a grandson; Alan Spray, and two brothers; Alexander and Walter Ferguson.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence, IA with Rev. Sheri Andersen officiating. Burial will be in the Wilson Cemetery, Independence. Friends may call from 4 to 8 PM Tuesday and from 8 AM till services Wednesday at the funeral home.
