John W. Millard, Sr.,59, of Evansdale, Iowa died Sunday, May 7th, 2017 at his home in Evansdale, Iowa

John was born on September 13, 1957 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa the son of William K. and Neva M (Townsend) Millard, Sr. He attended the Cedar Rapids Schools and Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids. On May 7, 1977, he was married to Deb VanDresar in Independence, IA. the couple made their home in Cedar Rapids prior to moving to Independence in 2000, and later moved to Evansdale in 2012. John was employed as a detail technician with Cedar Rapids Dodge for 17 years.

John loved to spend time with his family and enjoyed fishing, camping, and playing horseshoes.

He is survived by his wife, Deb Millard, Evansdale, IA, five children; Jeff (Stephanie) Millard, Shellsburg, IA, Johnny (Emily) Millard, LaPorte City, IA, Crista (Jr) Ward, Evansdale, IA, Justin (Brooke Forkner) Millard, Independence, IA, and Cassie (Michael) Harney, Waterloo, IA. Seventeen grandchildren, a brother; Ronnie (Kathy) Millard, Independence, IA, , and a sister; Kim (Antonio) Espirito, Winfield, IA.

John was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers; Randy Townsend, Neal Townsend and Kenneth Millard, and a sister; Lazetta Millard.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Wednesday at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory in Independence, Iowa where friends may call from 1 PM to services Wednesday. Burial will be in the Spring Grove Cemetery, Troy, Mills, IA.
